Gallery Post - Workbasket Quaker Animal Series - Update

Every so often I get grandiose ideas and make extraordinarily ambitious plans.  My hopes of making a queen-sized quilt from Workbasket's Quaker series is just one example of this tendency.

I intend the center medallion of the quilt to be the Quaker House with the four Quaker "trees" representing the seasons in the four corners of the center piece.  Then surrounding the center piece is a large rectangle made up of all the domestic/farm animals and an outer and even larger rectangle made up of woodland animals.  All of these stitched pieces will be border by log cabin style quilting frames in calico and solid cottons in deep to medium greens.  That's the vision anyway.

So far, I have stitched

The House

The Summer Tree

The Autumn Tree

The Winter Tree

The Spring Tree

The Cat

The Cow

The Pig
The Rooster

The Sheep
The Frog

The Rabbit

The Swan

The Tortoise

The Owl
The Bat

This update [7/3/15] marks the beginning of a renewed effort to stitch enough animals to actually start work on assembling the quilt.

You have a good bit stitched for your quilt. I am interested in the house design you have stitched. What leaflet is it in?

Have a wonderful day!

Grandiose indeed but will be an heirloom. Your stitching is beautiful.

I want to do the same with the PS alphabet series but I only have one letter completed.

Fantastic idea! I get grand ideas like that too but tend to get as far as sketching out the layouts!

I love the different animals, especially the way the Quaker motif makes the cow's udders.

Just gorgeous! The pig is my favorite, but really all of the finishes are beautiful. The quilt will be a real treasure once completed.

As I scrolled down, I expected one or two finishes, not all these! You're nearly there! Brilliant. Irene xxx

Beautiful stitches! I'm not a quilter and can't visualise what you describe but I'm sure it's achievable given how many you've already stitched, and will look fabulous!
